We have all been historically affected by migration and each in different ways. With this project I invite people to share their
shoes as statements of where they have been and where they are going thus sharing movement and walking in each
other's footsteps...

como declaraciones de donde ellos han sido y donde ellos van así compartiendo el movimiento y andando en los
pasos de cada uno...

Arriving at Venezuela

Leaving Trinidad & Tobago, from the Pier 1 port in Chaguaramas, Port of Spain

Reaching Venezuela, from port Guiria
The morning after the launch I made the journey to Venezuela by the ferry service from Pier 1. Crossing the waters that separate us watching the sliver of Venezuelan land grow.

While in Venezuela I left the shoes with Eliseo Solís Mora for him to continue the journey and process from Venezuela making this project a collaboration/ inter-country shoe trade.

Travelling Shoe Launch in Trinidad & Tobago

From the afternoon until 10pm there was a trickle of people bringing their shoes for the exchange. I started collecting a few days earlier from people who were not able to make it to the launch at Alice Yard. In the end there were fifty pairs of shoes.

I see this merely as the beginning and the process orchestrated by all participants is what defines the project. So there may end up being more than one collection in each country so that those who said they could not bring the first time can still have a chance to do so at a later point.

To Participate/ Para Participar

All interested can bring shoes to Alice Yard from noon on the 2nd of August till 9pm. This is the first collection of shoes for the project as I make my journey to Venezuela to conduct the first exchange. This is just the beginning, later on there is the possibility that participants may travel themselves to exchange their own shoes. Shoes can also be mailed so desired.

Once shoes are exchanged, the participant is responsible for what is done to the shoe. The action is digitally documented and emailed to:
zapatoviajero.travellingshoe@gmail.com
The documentation is then posted on to the blog to share the process as it happens. When all actions are completed all shoes will be collected for a travelling show.
